Properties: melting solid or flakes, brown red or yellow, easy to dissolve in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in ether. Strong alkaline aqueous solution, easily oxidized in air, toxic.
Uses: used in the manufacture of sulfur dyes or dye intermediates, reducer, mordant. Ore flotation agent in mining industry, depilatory of leather industry, cooking agent in paper industry. Also widely used in paint, rubber and other industries.
